Cindy grew up in a small town in northeast Iowa, with her parents, brother and sister. Her dad was a pharmacist and owned and operated the town drug store, and her mom ran the business side of the store. Cindy graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Elementary Education, and taught first grade in the public schools for three years. Steve and Cindy were engaged on the summit of 10,298’ Hyalite Peak, just south of Bozeman, and they married in 1986.
In 1991 Procter & Gamble transferred Steve and Cindy to China. Cindy loaded up their two small children -- David (then 18 months old) and Annie (six weeks old) -- and headed off to live in Guangzhou, China, a city with a population of over six million people! Over the course of the next six years, Cindy had two more children in a hospital in Hong Kong. They returned home to Montana in 1997 with their four children.
Cindy is an avid runner, backpacker, and taxi driver for her kids. It seems there is not much time left in a day after baseball, basketball, football, jazz band, orchestra, symphonic band, dance, and taking care of a dog, Ellie, and a cat, Lilly. Cindy also enjoys volunteering at the local public schools, as well as community church activities, and Young Life.
