Healthcare

There are no silver bullets to magically solve this problem. Anyone that tells you differently is just plain lying. The crisis with health insurance will never be solved until the cost of health care is brought under control. The fact remains that a lot of people cannot afford health insurance. They can still all receive health care but using the emergency room is not the preferred method. If we were not paying so much in taxes, we might be able to afford health insurance, but that’s another subject.

Roy Brown has sponsored legislation that helped get the cost of medical malpractice insurance rates under control. He has supported legislation that provided tax incentives for businesses that provide health insurance for their employees. Both of these pieces of legislation have helped but they are still not the answer to our problems. However universal health care certainly is not the answer either. Who is going to pay for such a huge government program? This can only lead to huge tax increases, health care rationing and waiting lists for surgery.

We need a better way. Still there are no easy fixes.
